Action Engine Mobile Application Platform™

The Action Engine Mobile Application Platform is an award winning browserless, client/server platform that offers a breakthrough in wireless data services usability. The Action Engine Platform provides the underlying framework for developing and deploying application packs that provide intuitive and personalized methods for accessing and using content (e.g. sports scores, news, weather) retrieved over the network.

The Platform is composed of the following four components:

The Action Engine Client
The Action Engine Client that runs on a variety of Java, BREW, and smartphone mobile devices and is designed to take into account the limitations of wireless form factor, such as small screen sizes, tiny keyboards, and intermittent network connections.  

The Client resides on the mobile device and lets consumers work offline, creating search requests that will be executed when the network connection is live. The Client also offers a learning engine which discovers user preferences and remembers recent search requests, tailoring the experience after each use. Most importantly, the Client can be easily downloaded onto the device to enable consumers to easily access and adopt ODP services. 

The Action Engine Server
The Action Engine Server is a secure, scalable platform that receives the end user's request from the Action Engine Client. The Server takes the user's request and uses the corresponding content provider (e.g. eBay, Amazon.com) to deliver the answer to the user's request. 

The Server is capable of integrating a variety of data sources and services providers (e.g. advertising database, billing engine, informational data like weather, or transactional services like travel booking). The Action Engine Server also provides the user with the ability to not only pull information when needed, but also schedule for content to be delivered to their phone on a regular basis.  

The Action Engine SDK
Using the Action Engine Software Development Kit, developers can create small, powerful and device local applications using standard XHTML language. At Action Engine we have the mantra of "Write Once Run Anywhere, Really!" and have created our platform to make it easy for developers to create myriads of applications that, once built, will run across all of our supported device types. All the heavy lifting is done within our core platform. 

The SDK lets companies make changes to an ODP, adding a new service or changing the look and feel without being tied to the ODP vendor. The standards-based software development kit (SDK) lets content providers, systems integrators, and wireless operators develop and modify their own fast and easy-to-use mobile applications for the ODP.

The Action Engine Administration Console
To enable easy optimization of ODP services and advertising deployed on our Platform, Action Engine offers a web-based Administration Console for reporting and management of ODPs. Reporting - The Administration Console interface gives administrators real-time visibility on customer usage trends, service uptake, advertising effectiveness, and the quality of service, enabling adjustments to improve the user experience. Using the console, administrators can easily pull reports to view advertising click-through and response rates as well as what ODP features consumers are using the most.

OTA Updates - The Console can also be used to make OTA updates to ensure a friendly path for future growth by letting consumers pull new updates down to the device. With Action Engine users don’t have to actively download new client software. They just turn on their mobile devices and the ODP update is there for them to enjoy.
